A Note from Ms. Amy’sDesk
Term 1/Wk 7 – 13 October 2017
A BIG THUMBS-UP for our new kids on the block – our Pre-Nursery students have been very brave and have settled in very well into the school routine during their first week of school!
Character development has always been a key focus alongside providing a rigorous curriculum in SSIS. Our first school wide Character Campaign– “Greeting Communicates Care” encourages our students to greet both the adults as well as their peers in school. We would also like to appeal to all parents to reinforce the expectation of displaying a respectful disposition via greeting and showing care for others beyond the school environment.
Preschool Division has also introduced the “SSIS Preschool Community Helper” project as part of our effort to instill appropriate social behaviour and to develop a sense of ownership and responsibility in our young learners. Our Kindergarten 2 students took the lead and were scheduled to help clean up, set the table and serve their peers during mealtime. It has been observed that such act of kindness beyond their classrooms has increased our students’ self-confidence, respect and mindfulness towards others… an important “soft-skill” to develop for them to be successful in the future!
Thank You children for your contribution in making our SSIS community a caring and pleasant place to learn and grow together.
